Growing
demand for fashionable flower preservation
The increasing
popularity of preserving and displaying wedding flowers is due to a number of
factors, according to specialists in this market.
First is the
growing desire of bridal couples and their families to retain a lasting keepsake
that celebrates the colour and emotion of the special day.
“For many
people, their flowers capture the essence of their wedding,” says Sue Berryman,
Runcorn-based owner of one of Cheshire’s two Flowers Forever outlets. “Wedding
flowers reflect the personality of the bride and the artistry of her florist, so
what could be more natural than to retain these on display after the event?”
Preserved
wedding flowers are not, of course, restricted to the bouquet itself, though
that is naturally the focus of the bride’s attention. Val Haig, from Flowers
Forever in Woore, near Crewe, explains: “Mums love the opportunity to keep
corsages and buttonholes, while the bridesmaids’ posies make great gifts to
remind them how much their contributions are appreciated.”
Another reason
for rising demand is simple – wider awareness that this is a wedding service
that provides a lasting memento, is unique to the bride and can be designed to
each individual bride’s personal taste.
“In addition to
national and regional advertising in bridal publications, we exhibit at many of
Cheshire’s favourite wedding shows,” say Sue and Val. “Many people are surprised
at how beautiful real flowers look when they are preserved and displayed in a 3D
frame, and when they see examples of our work they’re enchanted.”
The top tip for
getting the best results from flower preservation is to specify the best quality
flowers and ensure your preservation specialist receives them as soon as
possible after the event. As with most wedding services, it is advisable to book
early to be sure of availability.
Often a
collection service is available, even on the wedding day itself, but excellent
results can still be achieved a few days later providing the flowers are looked
after properly. Your Flowers Forever specialist can give you advice.
