Introduction
Vale Royal Abbey presents a magnificent venue for
weddings whether for Civil Ceremonies, wedding
breakfasts or an evening reception.
The historic splendour of Vale Royal Abbey alongside our
friendly and professional service provides the required
mix of formality, relaxation and enjoyment for your day.
The Great House forms an imposing sight when viewed on
arrival at Vale Royal Abbey. The modern facilities
provided in this beautifully refurbished building
provide those attending a unique venue and one that
enthuses grandeur.
From the Great House courtyard you and your guests will
be equally excited by the stunning surroundings with
many a photographic opportunity throughout the adjoining
grounds.
Vale Royal Abbey will take your breath away. The
magnificent back drop of the Great House sets the scene
for the equally impressive entrance into the Great Hall.
All first floor rooms of the Great House are available
for wedding & banqueting events with the rooms
themselves being set up in a format as required in
discussion with the appropriate organisers.
Our bespoke wedding service offers our experienced
advice and guidance throughout all your arrangements
including toastmaster services, dining menus, colour
co-ordinations, decoration, photography, table plans,
room layouts and entertainment.
The ‘Great Hall’ is the venue for all larger events and
provides a stunning arena for any requirement. The room,
situated on the first floor, is totally adaptable to any
environment and is a sight to behold when dressed for
the occasion. The Great Hall can seat up to up to 120
guests for a dining function.
The ‘Library’ gracefully compliments the Great Hall and
is used for more intimate occasions. Situated on the
first floor, the Library can seat up to 50 guests for a
dining function.
The ‘Lounge’, situated on the first floor, is provided
with it's own individual bar and is tastefully furnished
with a variety of dining tables and chairs and sumptuous
sofas. The Lounge is utilised for small banqueting
events in addition to being a reception area for larger
events requiring the use of the Great Hall & Library.
The Lounge overlooks the stunning backdrop of the 18
hole golf course and directly overlooks the clubhouse
courtyard, 1st tee, 18th green and putting green.
The ‘Armoury’, situated on the first floor, is utilised
as a bar and reception area for events held only in the
Great Hall. Furnished with comfortable sofas and
accessible via the original stone floor of the Great
House the Armoury provides a certain ambience ahead of
arrival into the Great Hall.

Directions by road
From M6
- From junction 19 M6, take the A556 westward towards
Chester for approximately 10miles, crossing the ‘Blue
Bridge’ over the River Weaver, through the Pelican
Crossing traffic lights (right turn for Hartford).
Continue for just over a mile passing under a road
bridge and move into the right hand lane. At the bottom
of the hill turn back up the other carriageway to branch
off left after 400 yards (signposted Hartford, Winsford
and Whitegate). At the T-junction turn right to
Whitegate, Winsford and Vale Royal Abbey. The driveway
to the golf club is on the left approximately 2 miles
along the lane.
From Chester
- On the A556 pass the Shell garage at one set of
lights and DeFine wines at the next set, continue past
the Blue Cap Premier Lodge Hotel until the road widens
into a duel carriageway. Take the first exit from the
dual carriageway (signposted Hartford, Winsford and
Whitegate). At the T-junction turn right to Whitegate,
Winsford and Vale Royal Abbey. The driveway to the golf
club is on the left approximately 2 miles along the
lane.
From Winsford
- Travel West along the main dual carriageway cutting
through the town and pass the shopping centre on the
left. At the first roundabout turn right.
Travel approximately 1 mile passing a Mazda showroom on
the right and on a left hand bend take the road to the
right (signposted Whitegate and Vale Royal Abbey).
This soon becomes a country lane passing under a railway
bridge. Look out for a cross roads and turn right (still
signposted Whitegate and Vale Royal Abbey). Enter the
village of Whitegate and pass straight through. The
driveway to the golf club is on the right just outside
the village. (Not the old white gates)

Hartford railway station is approx 2 miles away with
direct trains running to and from Euston Station,
London. Cuddington railway station is 4.5 miles away,
with Chester railway station 17 miles away and Crewe
railway station is 16miles away
